21. This Century Thinking - Webcast - What is 'systemic' and why is it important?

THIS CENTURY THINKING.png

It’s easy to blame politics for slow progress on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Yet, I’m seeing a deeper need to expand thinking and action in three integral ways:

  1. Awareness. With many issues are being labelled systemic, I wonder if we understand a solution mindset is of limited value when an evolutionary or ecological approach is needed.

  1. Wholeness. Integrating fragmented silos is a challenge yet every human is the very model of sophisticated wholeness. We are an adaptive system of integrated systems. The human model of wholeness offers insights into organising systemically.

  1. Worthiness. Worthiness builds a true sense of value, assures viability and guides a do-no-harm approach to governance and management for leadership to appear at every level. Yet, the business models and frameworks we use often are not worthy of the qualities and complexity of the systemic impacts created by our organisations.

I will explore these threads in a webinar series starting on Thursday 20 August 2020 from 13:00-14:00 Australian Eastern Standard Time.

We’ll start by asking what is ‘systemic’ and why does it matter today?
